Skin care tips for flawless skin

Most people don’t have the time or energy to keep getting pampered at spas, spend a lot of money on expensive products, or keep changing beauty routines twice a week. With the attention on healthy and younger looking skin, it is becoming increasingly difficult for most people to maintain flawless skin due to work stress, pollution, and overexposure to the sun.

Naturally healthy, beautiful skin can be achieved with a few skin care tips. You can soon get smooth, even-textured complexion that gives off a rosy hue if you change a few essential habits for your skin care and overall health. You do not always need the assistance of makeup to look like you have camera-ready skin.

Let us look at a few skin care tips and lifestyle changes that will help you achieve flawless, healthy skin.

Get to bed:

Getting beauty sleep is not a myth! Lack of sleep causes the skin to dry out, turn a dull grey color, and causes terribly dark undereye circles. Puffy and red eyes that look tired are another side effect of sleep deprivation. If you want to have gorgeous healthy-looking skin every morning, get a minimum of 7 hours of sleep daily. Setting your sleep cycle right can help you look fresh, feel alert, and gives your skin a well maintained healthy look. Any dryness, tightness, and coarseness will also slowly start to disappear after a good night’s rest.

Use SPF:

Most people forget to apply sunscreen with SPF (Sun Protecting Factor) of 30 or higher. With summer getting to its peak, walking out into daylight without protecting your skin could be disastrous. According to Skin Excellence, sunlight causes visible signs of ageing like dark patches, spotty skin, thinning of the skin, wrinkles, and fine lines. Overexposure to the sun is one of the reasons for skin cancer. Avoid direct sunlight on your skin between 10 am and 4 pm. These are the hours when the harmful UVA and UVB rays of the sun are at their highest. If you do have to step out during these hours, wear protective full-sleeved clothing and pants that protect you from the sun. Make sure you wear a cap or hat to cover your face. A sun umbrella would also help to protect your skin.

Moisturize regularly:

Moisturizing your skin daily could be the solution to a host of skin issues. Skin needs hydration and moisture. Moisturizers help reduce the time taken for water to evaporate from the surface. This process, in turn, slows down the drying and greying of skin. Use water-based moisturizers doing the summer, and oil-based moisturizers during winter to keep your arms and legs well hydrated. When the air is dry or thin, apply an extra layer of moisturizer to preserve the water content on the surface. Inversely, if the weather is too humid, you can ease up a little on the moisturizer. 

Workout:

Working out regularly helps eliminate all the toxins from the body through sweat. Similarly, it also helps in weight control and health gain. If you cannot go to the gym, opt for a brisk walk in the mornings or in the evenings. Joining a sport, swimming, or even going for a jog can help your skin tremendously. People who work out regularly are able to maintain healthy skin that remains tight due to exercise.

Diet control:

The skin will reflect what you eat. Avoid overeating oily, fatty, and sugary foods. Carbohydrates and sugars can bind collagen in the skin and cause it to look older. Ensure your diet contains healthy omega 3 (walnuts, salmon, and so on), healthy fats (olive oil), vitamins C (citrus fruits and berries), and antioxidants (green leafy vegetables like spinach, kale, and broccoli). Binge on fresh fruits and juices that contain water like melon and watermelon. You can drink fruit juices like orange and apple to improve the health and glow of your skin. Avoid processed and canned foods.

Drink water:

Water helps purify the system, keeps us well-hydrated, and clears impurities from the skin. Water, especially from a filtered water tap, helps cleanse the body of toxins and pollutants. It also helps in eliminating excess oils and dirt from our surface, thereby making it bright and fresh looking. Well-hydrated skin can be achieved by drinking minimum 3 liters of water daily. Adults can drink up to 4 liters of water daily to maintain healthy internal body temperatures, avoid acidity, remain hydrated, and regulate the digestive processes. Drinking water regularly helps visibly reduce fine lines and wrinkles within a week since water helps plump the skin.
